With Scene, you can quickly publish your site to a Scene subdomain or connect it to a custom domain from a third-party provider.

Publish Your Project

To make your website accessible online, start by publishing your project. Click the "Publish" button at the top right corner to begin hosting your site.

Once published, you can access the URL through the “Domain” in your Site settings.

To access Site Settings, first, ensure that the control panels (Layers panel, Right-side panel) are open by clicking the arrows in the lower-left corner of your screen.

Next, click on "Open Sitemap" at the top of the Layers panel. Then, click on the settings icon to open the Settings.

By default, your site will be hosted on a site.scene.io subdomain with limited customization. However, you can add a customized domain by selecting one of the following options:

  1. Add a free Scene subdomain

  2. Connect a third-party domain you own

Add a Free Scene Domain

Scene will automatically configure the DNS settings for you, making your new domain live within seconds. To change the substring in the domain, click the “Change” button, enter the name of your subdomain in the input field and hit “Save”.

Connect a Third-Party Domain

To publish your Scene website to a custom domain purchased from a web hosting service, you need to configure the DNS records with your domain provider. Purchase a domain from a provider like Google Domains or GoDaddy. Once you have your custom domain, click the “Configure” button.

Add a new domain by entering the desired domain name and click "Add domain.” Scene will perform a look-up for the provider you're using and will automatically generate DNS records for your domain.

Shall the results of the look-up be incorrect, pick your domain provider from the dropdown menu.

Then copy the generated DNS records from Scene and paste them into your domain provider's interface. Domain registrars and hosting companies usually offer a custom panel for DNS management. Below are support articles for the most commonly used domain registrars:

Once you copied the aforementioned records into your domain provider, come back to Scene and hit “Verify”. Once the verification goes through, your custom domain will be connected.

Note:

If you want to connect a new custom domain, you can do so by disconnecting your current domain and following the same steps mentioned above to connect the new domain.
